Steve Jobs, who co-founded Apple Computer with his childhood friend Steve Wozniak in 1976 is dead at age 56. Jobs survived a form of pancreatic cancer in 2004 and had a liver transplant in 2009. A specific cause of death has yet to be released.
From the Apple Web site…
Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.
On August 24, 2011, Jobs announced he was stepping down as Apple CEO. Under Jobs’ leadership, Apple sold what was then called the first personal computer, the Apple II, but it was the iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes that turned the company into a global powerhouse with him at the helm of the company.
